1. There are no buses that run directly from Hanoi to Vang Vieng
 
2. There are 3 ways to get to Vang Vieng from Hanoi
 
2.1 You should book a bus ticket from Hanoi to Vientiane (The bus will stop at Dong Dok bus station, Vientiane). Next, you book a bus ticket from Vientiane to Vang Vieng
- The bus departs from Hanoi at 17.30 - The shuttle bus picks up at Hanoi Old Quarter from 15.30. The bus will be arrived in Vientiane around 16.00 the next day.
- From Vientiane you can book 1 bus ticket to Vang Vieng departing in the evening (180km - 4 hours).
NOTE: If you have time to stay in Vientiane for a few days, you should book a high speed train ticket from Vientiane to Vang Vieng with only 1 hour.

2.2 You can choose book a bus ticket from Hanoi to Luangprbang, then from Luangprbang you can book a bus ticket to Vang Vieng or you should book a high-speed train ticket from Luangprbang to Vang Vieng (only 1 hour by train)

2.3. HANOI - TAY TRANG BORDER GATE - MUANG XAI - VANG VIENG

We have 4 sleeper buses per week departing from Hanoi to Vang Vieng. Contact whatsapp: +84-914425788 for detailed departure schedule.
The bus schedule departs from Hanoi at 18:00 - 18:30 on day 1 via Dien Bien Phu - Tay Trang Border Gate - Muang Xai (Oudomxay). Arrive at Muang Xai at 3:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Change to take the train from Muang Xai at 4:30 p.m. on Day 2 to Vang Vieng at 7:00 p.m.

Bus schedule: Hanoi – Tay Trang border gate (Dien Bien Phu) – Muang Xai (Oudomxay) – Vang Vieng
The schedule is divided into 2 distances
Stage 1: Sleeper bus from Hanoi – Tay Trang border gate (Dien Bien Phu) – Muang Xai
Stage 2: Train departs from Muang Xai to Vang Vieng

Bus departure time from Hanoi: 6:00pm - 6:30 day 1
Time to arrive at Muang Xai (Oudomxay): 3:00 p.m. on day 2
Train departure time from Muang Xai (Oudomxay): 4:30 p.m day 2
Train time to Vang Vieng: 07:00 p.m day 2
Ticket price (including: Sleeper bus ticket and train ticket) 1,500,000 VND = 65 USD.
Pick up point: Pick up guests at all hotels in Hanoi Old Quarter area at 3:00 p.m - 3.30pm.

Note: When arriving at Muang Xai, the bus company will deliver train tickets to passengers and take them to the train station

NOTE: 2024: If you are not from a country exempted from Laos visa. You need to apply for Laos visa before booking our bus tickets. Currently, Laos has stopped stamping electronic visas at Cau Treo border gate, Nam Kan border gate, Tay Trang border gate

1. Do you have a Laos Visa yet?
2. If you do not have a Laos Visa, you need to go to the Laos embassy to apply. It is recommended to arrive at the Lao embassy in the morning before 11.AM. You will receive your Visa at 3:00 p.m. on the same day (They schedule you at 4:00 p.m. but in reality you can receive it at 3:00 p.m.). We pick you up from your hotel in Hanoi Old Quarter from 3:00 p.m. - 3:15 p.m. or from the Lao Embassy from 3:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
3. There are 3 trips/ 1 week from Hanoi - Oudomxay and transfer to the train from Oudomxay to Vang Vieng
4. Bus ticket price + train ticket = 1,500,000 VND
5. Pay upon pick up.
